Frank Bisignano, a longtime Wall Street executive and former chairman and CEO of Fiserv Inc., was sworn in as the new Commissioner of Social Security on May 7, 2025. He takes the helm at a time of significant upheaval within the Social Security Administration (SSA), which last year disbursed over $1.5 trillion in benefits to more than 72 million beneficiaries.
Bisignano was nominated in January by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the Senate in a 53-47 vote on May 6, largely along party lines. His term will run through January 19, 2031.
