GoSystem API - Import Data for K-1s

Hi,

We've been utilizing the GoSystem API for corporate filings and would like to add the ability to utilize the API for partnership returns as well. One significant issue that we run into with larger partnership filings is that a lot of allocation codes need to be used in GoSystem to have K-1s print properly. Ideally, we would like to have the amounts for the K-1s listed in our import file for both federal and state K-1s and have these amounts be utilized on the K-1s. Is this currently possible with the API, and if so, can someone provide a snippet on how this data would appear in JSON in order to be correctly imported?

    To assist you further, could you please provide additional details on the following:

    • Are there any specific issues or errors you are encountering with the GoSystem API? If so, please describe the issue in detail and provide the steps needed to replicate it.
    • What specific API endpoint are you using for handling partnership returns in GoSystem?
    • Could you share the payload you are using, as well as any supporting documentation or examples that illustrate how you are currently trying to implement this?
  • Appreciate the prompt response. There are no particular issues or errors, I'm just trying to gain a better understanding of whether the API will be able to address the use case mentioned in my original post.

    We'd expect to utilize the GoSystem: Tax Return Live API for this process.

    I don't have anything to share for a payload or documentation as the question is whether the use case posted is possible with the API and if it is, how should the JSON be formatted when doing the import?

    Below is the reference for the save-field (/v1/save-fields) endpoint in the GST Live API, where you can find sample payloads for K-1s:

    GST Live API DevPortal URL:

    https://developerportal.thomsonreuters.com/gosystem/swagger_openapi_document/tax-return-live-api/10681/beta#/TaxReturn%20(V1)/post_v1_save_fields

    If you still, require further assistance with importing (saving) values for K-1s, please provide screenshots of the user interface and the navigation paths to the fields where you intend to update the values or amounts. This information will help us offer more targeted support.

    Thank you!

  • Thanks for the post and reference. That screenshot provided references the 1040 K-1 input. What we're trying to target is the K-1s (federal and state) generated as part of the preparation of a 1065.

    The details provided above include sample payloads that you can modify according to your specific requirements.

    If you need further assistance with importing (saving) values for K-1s related to 1065, please share screenshots of the user interface and describe the navigation paths to the fields where you plan to update the values or amounts. This information will enable us to provide more precise and targeted support.

  • The main item would be the federal K-1, located in the tax forms, Partner by Partner Detail, "Partner Name" - Sch K-1-Partner Share Inc/Ded/Etc section. The data to transmit would include partner name, SSN/EIN, address, and Sch. K-1 Part III information such as ordinary income, rental income, interest income, etc... Screenshot from GS below:

    State K-1 information, Kentucky as an example would need similar information transmitted. Navigated to in tax forms, States, Kentucky, Sch K-1, "Partner Name." Screenshot of items for state purposes below:

    Please let me know if it is possible to upload the partner K-1 information directly, and if it is, a sample JSON payload that would upload this data. Thanks for your assistance.

    To update the Highlighted values in the federal K-1's information.

     Below is the sample JSON payload:
    {
        "fieldsRequest": [
            {
                "groupField": {
                    "index": 0,
                    "fieldId": "PARPTRNAM1",
                    "value": "Test Partner1",
                    "child": null
                },
                "fields": [
                    {
                        "fieldId": "PARK1L1",
                        "value": "90"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "PARK1L2",
                        "value": "101"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "PARK1L4A",
                        "value": "98"
                    }
                ]
            }
        ]
    }
    Here "value": "Test Partner1" -- Indicated "Partner Name".
    The index value starts with zero and it indicated the order of the "Partner Name".
    The group fieldId (PARPTRNAM1) is obtained from the Organizer window. Below is the screenshot for your reference.
     Similarly to update the Highlighted values in the State K-1's information.
    Below is the sample Payload for your reference:
    {
        "fieldsRequest": [
            {
                "groupField": {
                    "index": 0,
                    "fieldId": "PARPTRNAM1",
                    "value": "Test Partner1",
                    "child": null
                },
                "fields": [
                    {
                        "fieldId": "X140.3965.130",
                        "value": "90"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "140.2245.131",
                        "value": "101"
                    }
                ]
            }
        ]
    }
    If you want to update values for Federal and state K-1's in one request you can use the below sample payload where all the fieldId's are updated in one request.
    {
        "fieldsRequest": [
            {
                "groupField": {
                    "index": 0,
                    "fieldId": "PARPTRNAM1",
                    "value": "Test Partner1",
                    "child": null
                },
                "fields": [
                    {
                        "fieldId": "X140.3965.130",
                        "value": "90"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "140.2245.131",
                        "value": "101"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "PARK1L1",
                        "value": "99"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "PARK1L2",
                        "value": "99"
                    },
                    {
                        "fieldId": "PARK1L4A",
                        "value": "99"
                    }
                ]
            }
        ]
    }
