Update with WOS Core Collection

Hi,

I added a list of publications from Endnote Web to Publication List 1 in Researcher ID, then I updated the whole List with WOS core collection to get the citaton data (Manage List -> Update with Web of Science Core Collection). Although my list is much longer I only get citation data of seven publications and there are definately more then these seven articles listed in WOS. I also tested with single articles that are listed in WOS, I do not get any citation data whrn using the update button. Does it only work if I add the publications directly from Web of Science?

Best regards

Re: Update with WOS Core Collection

Dear lej8680,

Adding publications directly from Web of Science Core Collection will automatically display the related citation data. The “Update with Web of Science Core Collection” button is more for creating this link when the publications have been added from some other source, such as EndNote or PubMed. Using the update button works for most of these records by finding a match in Web of Science Core Collection, but sometimes the publication data in ResearcherID is different enough in format or content that the match cannot be made, assuming the publication is of course in the database.

This can usually be fixed by editing the ResearcherID publication record in Endnote Online, saving it and then trying the update button again. The fields that commonly need editing are the Accession Number field (it may contain a non-Web of Science number) or some of the bibliographic data (source, volume, page numbers, etc). For more detail on editing ResearcherID records in Endnote Online, please see the brief recorded training session on our training website at the link below.

Re: Update with WOS Core Collection

Dear Marylou,

thanks for your quick answer, the Accession Number seems to be the problem. At our Institution we import the Publications from Pubmed to Endnote, and the PubmedId ist  automatically imported into the field "Accession Number"

Now my question is if there is any possibility to delete all Accession number at once in an Endnote or EndnoteWeb Database. That would make things a lot easier for us as we need the citation data for our list very ugently.

Thanks

Best regards

Re: Update with WOS Core Collection

Dear LEJ,

Not as far as I am aware. You might want to contact the EndNote Technical Support team to see if they are aware of a way to do such a bulk edit. You can submit a ticket with them at the Technical Support website (http://ip-science.thomsonreuters.com/techsupport/) and choosing EndNote as the product, or by calling 800-336-4474 option4 for Technical Support then option1 for Researchsoft.

You can also submit an enhancement request on the ResearchID Suggestions forum, which is monitored by the product management team.
